French pottery vase – Céladon

Celadon is an ancestral technique in the art of ceramics, with shades ranging from khaki to turquoise.

The ceramist Karen Swami, master of this art, obtains by oxidation a subtle sea green color, close to the classic celadon. By deliberately letting the drops of enamel melt appear, she sublimates her creations with a third firing in fine gold gloss, giving the illusion that celadon covers an originally gilded piece. The drops of enamel on the golden clay infuse movement and vitality, characteristic of her approach to contemporary French ceramics.
